KATO CYCLE CLUB BY-LAWS

Roberts Rules of Order shall govern the parliamentary proceedings of this club, unless otherwise provided for in the by-laws.

No.1

The order of business shall be:

1. Roll call

2. Reading minutes of previous meetings.

3. Report of officers.

4. Unfinished business.

5. New business.

No.2

The Club will carry sufficient AMA memberships as required for the AMA Charter. This listing will include Life AMA memberships first, plus elective officers as follows: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Referee, Asst. Referee, District 23 delegates (1st, 2nd and 3rd), and Road Captain. (Clerk Of Course Added 2002). These memberships are to be paid out of the Club Treasury, with Club dues raised adequately to cover the expense. Other members wishing to retain AMA membership may do so at their own expense.

No.3

All bills must be checked and approved by the Club before they are paid. All checks should be countersigned by the President, Secretary or Vice President.

No.4

Application for membership must be recommended by an active member in good standing. The applicant must then attend two more meetings. At the end of that time, if his conduct is satisfactory, he becomes a member if voted in by two-thirds of the members present. He will then pay his initiation fee, and be carried on the club dues for the remainder of the month. A new member is on probation for 12 months from the date of joining and may be voted on at any time during his or her probation period.

No.5

Only active members shall be eligible to hold office in the club.

No.6

A member must keep his dues up to date with a three month’s waiting period. Those members two months and 2 weeks behind will be notified by the Treasurer. Within 2 weeks after notice, a member must pay his back dues, or present a reasonable excuse which would entitle him to an extension of time. If he makes no effort to do so, he will be dropped for non-payment of dues. Should he wish to rejoin later, he must reapply for it” be voted on and if accepted, pay a $20.00 rejoining fee. This fee will include a new shirt.

No.7

A member may be expelled for conduct unbecoming of the Club, but charges must first be made in writing and the accused member will be given a hearing. The Club shall thereupon take a vote to decide whether the member shall be expelled or not. It shall take a two-thirds vote of the members present and entitled to vote to expel a member.

No.8

Amendments to the By-laws may be made with a two-thirds vote of the active members present at any meeting if a quorum is present.

No.9

Members may purchase keys for the gate and clubhouse from the Treasurer at cost. Keys should be returned when membership is terminated; the purchase price will be refunded. No one under 21 will be able to obtain a key to the bar at any time. Anyone that is a member of the Club at the completion of 6 consecutive years, may apply to the club for a bar key for personal use, to be purchased by them at the discretion of the Club members.

This Club follows AMA rules, and upholds Federal, State and Local laws. Any person who, through his conduct is found to be an undesirable Club member may be expelled from the Club through procedures as described in the Club though procedures as described in the Club Constitution and By-laws.

No.11

No more leave of absence will be granted. Names of servicemen are to be dropped from the AMA membership list. Men in service will be carried by the Club only until the end of his first year hitch.

No.12

Non-members not accompanied by a member will considered trespassers.

Anyone wishing to rejoin the Club who terminated their membership in good standing must have one week waiting period before being voted

No.14

There will be an application form drawn up for both prospective members under 21 and his parent or guardian to have signed and notarized.

No.15

Club members will wear a black shirt with “Kato Cycle Club monogrammed in gold. A regal blue shirt with lettering is also acceptable. First name is to be above the left pocket. The club patch is to be worn on the left arm. The flag should remain the same color and emblem as the Club patch.

The Club will have a permanent competition committee, with permanent members who may resign, and with a chairman who can appoint any l

A competition rider, upon approval of the Kato Cycle Club, may purchase a racing vest, with Kato Cycle Club to pay the cost of monogramming t Brandt (approximately $5.00). The Club will pay for the Kato Cycle Club name, number and rider’s name only on the vest.

No.18

The winner of the girl’s activity contest will be allowed the choice of a trophy or remembrance, not to exceed $10.00.

No.19

An active member is any member who works at least 4 parties or 4 events or a combination of the two per year or any Life member shall be considered active when he/she is in attendance at any club function.
